My Story

I never wanted to limit myself to just one experience, and I believe that we are here to experience all life has to offer — the hard and the beautiful.

Over the course of my adult life, I’ve been a carpenter, a trucker, a professional touring and recording musician, an IT Guy, and have worked extensively with horses.

Through it all, I’ve been driven by my thirst for learning, and my own life experience (including becoming sober in 2005), led me to become deeply curious about people and the early childhood experiences that shape us.

Decades ago, I started reading about psychoanalysis with Bill Willson’s AA Big Book and got into Jung and Freud. I couldn’t get enough of it, and so, at forty-eight years old, I went back to school.

I got my B.A. in Psychology and my M.S. in Counseling, and I was the oldest person in every classroom (often even older than my professors). But I didn’t let that stop me. Because — and I truly believe this — I am free. You are free. And when we don’t feel free, it’s almost always because of a story we are carrying that is telling us something different.

I love nothing more than helping people uncover and rewrite those stories.

Sometimes, a horse avoids an area of its pen or it won’t eat the hay. For years, I worked with horses, and I learned that there is always something holding them back. Something that they can change so they can feel free. The same is true for people.

I want to help you feel free. And whatever story you’re telling yourself that’s limiting your freedom? I want to help you rewrite it. I want to help you get unstuck so you can move forward, enjoying all that life has to offer.
